How to block Telegram on iPhone

How do you block Telegram on an iPhone?

It depends on what you mean by a block. Screen Time can limit Telegram, and you can ignore that limit if you know the passcode or never set one. Block Telegram with iPhone Screen Time

Telegram mixes a chat with a person and a channel that behaves like a feed. Screen Time cannot tell them apart. On iOS 26, limit the Telegram icon inside Social if channels are the problem and you can accept delayed chats. On iOS 27, Telegram shares Social Media. Folders you made inside Telegram are invisible to iOS.

iOS 26

  1. Limit Telegram only if delayed chats are acceptable Settings, Screen Time, App Limits, Add Limit, Social, Telegram. The clock covers channels, groups and one-to-one chats together.
  2. Folders are not limits A Telegram folder you named "news" is still the Telegram app. Do not expect it to appear in Add Limit.
  3. Channel notifications are the front door Settings, Notifications, Telegram, or the mute control inside a channel. Stop the alerts that make you open a feed. Then check Always Allowed.

iOS 27

  1. Telegram spends Social Media Set that Time Allowance and the daily total. Manage Categories confirms the grouping. A channel and a family chat still share it.
  2. Secret chats are the same app iOS 27 does not exempt a secret chat from the allowance. If that chat must get through, do not block the icon.

Apple's steps: App Limits on iOS 26 and Time Allowances on iOS 27. A limit you set for yourself can be ignored if you know the Screen Time passcode, or if you never set one.

What Telegram's own limits do, and why they fail

Telegram can mute a channel, archive a chat, and turn off previews. None of those close the app after a number of minutes. We could not find a daily lock in Telegram's public description on 31 October 2026. A channel you meant to read once will still offer the next post. Muting it stops the ping. It does not stop you opening the archive.

No. Folders are inside the app. The limit is the whole icon.

I muted a channel and still lose time there. How?

Mute stops notifications. It does not stop the app, and it does not remove the channel from the chat list.

Does Telegram have a screen-time dashboard that locks the app?

We did not find one, in public help, on 31 October 2026. Use Screen Time for a lock on the icon, with the tradeoff above.
