How to block Discord on iPhone

Semo is an iPhone app that blocks distracting apps by asking an AI question that quotes your own reason back to you. This page is only about Discord.

How do you block Discord on an iPhone?

It depends on what you mean by a block. Screen Time can limit Discord, and you can ignore that limit if you know the passcode or never set one. Semo asks an AI question that quotes your own reason, and you can dismiss it. The steps on this page are Apple's. Semo is not on the App Store yet. Price shown in the app.

Block Discord with iPhone Screen Time

Discord is where a server, a direct message and a call are the same app. A Screen Time limit will delay the message you wanted as well as the scrolling you did not. Decide that before you set it. On iOS 26 it is under Social. On iOS 27 it is Social Media. Do Not Disturb inside Discord is not a time limit.

iOS 26

  1. Limit Discord knowing messages are included Settings, Screen Time, App Limits, Add Limit, Social, then Discord only. Read the time as "no Discord", not "no scrolling". Chats stop too when the limit is reached.
  2. Keep Discord out of Always Allowed if you want the limit Always Allowed is why many people think a Discord limit does nothing. Remove it. If you cannot miss messages, do not use an App Limit for this app.
  3. Server pings are separate from the limit Settings, Notifications, Discord. Turn off pings from servers that make you open the app. The limit does not start until the app is used.

iOS 27

  1. Discord shares the Social Media allowance Time Allowances apply to the category. A busy Discord evening and other social apps draw from the same Social Media pool unless you recategorise.
  2. A call is still Discord Voice and video in a server count as the Discord app. The allowance does not keep a call going after the time is gone.

Apple's steps: App Limits on iOS 26 and Time Allowances on iOS 27. A limit you set for yourself can be ignored if you know the Screen Time passcode, or if you never set one.

What Discord's own limits do, and why they fail

Discord can mute a server, silence a channel, and turn on Do Not Disturb. All of that stops noise. None of it closes the app after a number of minutes. The app will happily stay open on a channel you meant to glance at. There is no "DMs allowed, servers blocked" switch, in Discord or in Screen Time.

An example reason

Written for this page. Not a quote from a user.

I open Discord for one direct message, and I am still reading a server an hour later.

How Semo helps with Discord

That split is the reason to store: "a direct message, not a server". Semo blocks Discord by asking an AI question that quotes it. If you need the direct message to come through even when you are done, a hard App Limit is the wrong tool, because it stops both. Semo does not promise you will answer and leave. Questions

Can Screen Time block Discord servers and leave DMs?

No. One app, one limit. Mute the noisy servers inside Discord if you want the icon to stay available.

I set Do Not Disturb in Discord and still lose time. Why?

Do Not Disturb hides pings. It does not measure or stop how long the app is open.

Does a Discord limit affect the desktop app?

Not from the iPhone setting. Screen Time on the phone is the phone. Share Across Devices, if you turned it on, shares Screen Time with your other Apple devices. It does not configure Discord on Windows.
