How to block Reddit on iPhone

Semo is an iPhone app that blocks distracting apps by asking an AI question that quotes your own reason back to you. This page is only about Reddit.

How do you block Reddit on an iPhone?

It depends on what you mean by a block. Screen Time can limit Reddit, and you can ignore that limit if you know the passcode or never set one. Semo asks an AI question that quotes your own reason, and you can dismiss it. The steps on this page are Apple's. Semo is not on the App Store yet. Price shown in the app.

Block Reddit with iPhone Screen Time

Reddit is a social app. The home feed, a single community you came to read, and chat are one icon. A limit cannot keep r/something open and close the home feed. On iOS 26, select Reddit inside Social rather than limiting the category. On iOS 27 it shares Social Media.

iOS 26

  1. Add Reddit as its own App Limit Settings, Screen Time, confirm App and Website Activity is on, then App Limits, Add Limit. Open Social and tick Reddit, not the whole list.
  2. Set a time that assumes the home feed, not one thread The timer cannot see that you opened one post. Choose a time you are willing to spend on Reddit at all, then tap Next.
  3. Remove Reddit from Always Allowed If it sits in Always Allowed, the limit is decorative. reddit.com in Safari is also outside this App Limit on iOS 26.

iOS 27

  1. Reddit uses the Social Media allowance In Time Allowances, set Social Media and the daily total. Open Manage Categories if Reddit landed somewhere you did not expect.
  2. Old.reddit.com and the app are not the same door A linked official site may count on iOS 27. Other front ends in Safari will not, unless you limit Safari.

Apple's steps: App Limits on iOS 26 and Time Allowances on iOS 27. A limit you set for yourself can be ignored if you know the Screen Time passcode, or if you never set one.

What Reddit's own limits do, and why they fail

Reddit's public controls are notification settings, muted communities and content filters. We could not find, in Reddit's own help as of 31 October 2026, a daily timer that closes the app. If your version shows a reminder, read whether it has a continue button. The home feed is designed to keep offering another post after the one you opened. Muting one community does not mute that feed.

An example reason

Written for this page. Not a quote from a user.

I open Reddit for an answer in one community, and the home feed is why I am still there.

How Semo helps with Reddit

Write that down as the reason, and a rule such as "the community I came for, then out". Semo blocks Reddit with an AI question that quotes it. Semo cannot open that community for you or hide the home feed. No published number says how often the question is enough.

Questions

Can I limit Reddit's home feed and not one subreddit?

Not with Screen Time. Both are the Reddit app. A rule you write for yourself can name the difference. iOS cannot enforce it inside the app.

Does Reddit have a screen-time setting I should turn on first?

We did not find a daily lock in Reddit's public help on 31 October 2026. Do not wait for one. Use Screen Time if you want the system to stop the icon.

What about the Reddit website?

On iOS 26 it is Safari, not the Reddit App Limit. See the Safari guide. On iOS 27, check whether the official site is linked to the allowance.
