Semo

How to block Pinterest on iPhone

Semo is an iPhone app that blocks distracting apps by asking an AI question that quotes your own reason back to you. This page is only about Pinterest.

How do you block Pinterest on an iPhone?

It depends on what you mean by a block. Screen Time can limit Pinterest, and you can ignore that limit if you know the passcode or never set one. Semo asks an AI question that quotes your own reason, and you can dismiss it. The steps on this page are Apple's. Semo is not on the App Store yet. Price shown in the app.

Block Pinterest with iPhone Screen Time

Pinterest is easy to mis-file. It is not only "social", and a search you started for a real task (a part, a recipe) uses the same app as the related-pin trail that follows it. On iOS 26, open the category list and tick the Pinterest icon rather than guessing the category. On iOS 27, check Manage Categories for where it was placed.

iOS 26

  1. Tick Pinterest by name Settings, Screen Time, App Limits, Add Limit. Expand each category until you see Pinterest, and select that icon only. Do not assume it is inside Social.
  2. Set a time for the trail, not the first search The limit cannot tell a recipe from the twenty related pins after it. Choose the total time you want the icon available, then tap Next.
  3. Ideas-for-you notifications reopen the app Settings, Notifications, Pinterest. Turn those off if they are the reason you return. Check Always Allowed as well.

iOS 27

  1. Find which allowance Pinterest is spending Open Time Allowances, then Manage Categories, and see which category contains Pinterest. Set that category. The daily total still applies.
  2. Related pins are not a second app iOS 27 does not split a Pinterest search from the ideas underneath it. One category clock covers both.

Apple's steps: App Limits on iOS 26 and Time Allowances on iOS 27. A limit you set for yourself can be ignored if you know the Screen Time passcode, or if you never set one.

What Pinterest's own limits do, and why they fail

Pinterest lets you tune a home feed and turn off some notifications. We could not find, in its public help on 31 October 2026, a daily timer that closes the app. Related pins are the product: one search becomes another. Saving a pin for later is the same app as scrolling. There is no "search only" mode that Screen Time can switch on.

An example reason

Written for this page. Not a quote from a user.

I open Pinterest for one recipe, and related pins are why the search never ends.

How Semo helps with Pinterest

Store that reason with a rule such as "save the thing I came for, then close". Semo blocks Pinterest by asking an AI question that quotes the reason. It cannot hide related pins. Whether the question is enough has not been published.

Questions

Why is Pinterest missing from the Social list?

It may be filed under a different category. Search the categories inside Add Limit, or on iOS 27 open Manage Categories. Limit the icon, not the category you hoped it was in.

Can I allow a search and block the home feed?

No. Screen Time sees the Pinterest app. It does not see which tab is open.

Does the Pinterest website bypass the app limit?

On iOS 26, yes, via Safari. On iOS 27, only a site that is not linked to the allowance still bypasses it. See the Safari guide.
